On a hot afternoon, guys n gals never fail to crowd around the roadside bicycle cart or van peddling the iced dessert. The green pandan leaf flavored noodles with the red beans in brownish palm sugar/coconut milk called cendol sells for around RM1.20-1.80 each.
Probably Malaysia’s most popular dessert, it is of Indian origin.
Meanwhile, following close behind is the sweet milky concoction called iced kacang ( above ), a similarly cold favorite with peanuts, sweetened corns and red beans. Made popular by the indomitable nyonyas it is the most colorful of Malaysia’s world class desserts.
